Trail Description

The Mandeni Resort trails are well made and vary from beginner to intermediate. If you take the detour into Manna Park, apparently the trails in here are more technical and are for the more experienced rider. These are the links to Mandeni Resort and Manna Park.

A map of the Mandeni Resort trails can be found by clicking the image above and a map of the neighbouring Manna Park trails can be located here.

The trail head is located at the Visitor Centre which is where you pay for access and get your registration.

The Mandeni trails are located at the Mandeni resort which is located on Sapphire Coast Drive just north of Merimbula and Tura Beach. As the trails are located on private property, there is a minor ($5 at time of writing if you have your own bike, more if you want to hire one) charge to enter the resort for which you get a "registration plate" to indicate you have paid and a good quality map of the resort trails. This is the same map as on their website but of much better quality.

The trails head from the visitor centre out to the highway following the fence line before following a creek valley towards Manna Park and then off around the rest of the property.

The section around Manna Park is meant to be a bit more technical than the rest of the circuit but I missed the turn off (For your reference, I understand it is where you cross one of the ride over gates onto a road - apparently it's marked but I missed it.)

The section up near the Stonehouse café was probably the best section of the course but it's all pretty good and there are a number of (large) log rides as well as a skills section and a number of smaller loops if you have younger kids.

There were a few issues on the course which were a bit disappointing. Two of the bridges over narrow but deep creeks were washed out and this meant you had to leave the circuit and try and find your way back onto the loop.

There were also a number of trees down across the circuit and there were a couple of places where the trail disappeared into a dam where you had no idea how deep it was which is nice to know when you're carting cameras etc around. At one point I was riding through about 400 mm of water for an extended distance not knowing whether it was going to get deeper. It was OK in the end but obviously the shoes were soaked which didn't make for a pleasant ride from thereon.

The signage is generally good but there were a few spots where it wasn't obvious where the signs were. Obviously they had had a fair bit of rain recently which may have caused the issues above so perhaps these gripes are a bit unfair as the issues may have been recent ones. Despite the above it's a good ride and would have been better had I picked up the Manna Park trail.
